Break-even calculator
Enter your yearly fixed costs, expected revenue and variable costs (all before tax).
The formulas
Contribution margin = (revenue − variable costs) ÷ revenue. Break-even revenue = fixed costs ÷ contribution margin. Break-even day = break-even revenue ÷ revenue × 365, assuming sales are spread evenly over the year.
Example: fixed costs 30,000, revenue 120,000, variable costs 60,000 → contribution margin 50%, break-even revenue 60,000, reached around day 183.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as a fixed cost?
Anything you pay even if you sell nothing that month: rent, insurance, loan repayments, software, your own minimum pay.
What if my sales are seasonal?
The break-even day assumes even sales across the year. With seasonal sales, use the break-even revenue figure and compare it with your month-by-month sales.
